Sportsmaster | Junior School
Welcome to sport at the Junior School in 2021. Yesterday the boys were involved in grade sport for Year 3 and summer sport trials (Years 4 to 6). By the end of next week teams will be formed and we will move into our first round of sport on Saturday, 13 February.
There has been some movement in squads already and more will follow next Thursday’s session.
In addition, Year 3 will begin with Football each Thursday morning commencing next week and on Friday afternoons beginning 12 February. Training runs for five consecutive Fridays between 3pm and 4.30pm at Summer Hill. Boys are asked to have shin pads (Rebel Sport stock these) as of next Thursday. Please wear the House Shirt for sport on Fridays.
The TGS App has the Term’s draft draw on it as well as the weekly fixtures and is the most up to date and reliable source of fixtures and any changes to sport. The Weekly draw will start as of Monday, 8 February to reflect each coming Saturday’s draw.
School Sports Expectations
I would like to take this opportunity to remind all Parents and Guardians about the School’s expectations when it comes to Saturday sport.
Firstly, I bring your attention to the blue section at the front of the School Record Book. Under the title School Sport, it explains and outlines the sporting requirements of the School. All boys from Years 4 to 6 must attend Saturday sport from Term 1.
If you have a prior engagement whereby your son is unable to attend a fixture you will be required to apply for leave through Mr. Mark Dunn (Head of the Junior School) two weeks prior to the Saturday in question via email.
Whilst at sport boys are required to wear their correct uniform at all times and both parents and boys are to adhere to the IPSHA Sports Code of Conduct which can be viewed by clicking on the link below.
If there is inclement weather on a Saturday morning or a Friday afternoon, please check the TGS app for notifications. If you have any other questions about school sport or the schools sporting policy I would welcome you to contact me on 9581 6136.
We ask that all players be at the game 30 minutes prior to the start so that the coach can go over team strategies and warm up with the boys. They must also be dressed in the correct uniform for their sport. Please contact me if you are unsure of the school’s requirements.
Junior School Swimming Trials
The Junior School Swimming Trials will be held on Tuesday, 9 February at the Summer Hill Centenary Centre Pool. The day will include all the heats and finals to select an IPSHA Invitational Team and the IPSHA Swim Team. Trials will only be for interested boys and I will organise this during Week 2.
