Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opensMaria Augusta von Trapp
At the recent Junior School assembly, we were entertained by David (6La), who played Land of hope and glory by Elgar on the trumpet. He has been learning with Mrs Malyusz for 3 Years. David plays in the Allegro Concert Band and learns piano with Mrs Yeung. His sports of choice are rugby and cricket, but he also likes gaming, roller blading, and handling his snake Harry and playing with his dog Holly. This year David’s goal is to play The Last Post on ANZAC day. He says, “The trumpet is a fun yet challenging instrument”.

Service through music
This week, William (3La) and Aaron (3Ta) were asked to perform for William’s sister’s day-care. Enthusiastically, William and Aaron shared their passion for music to a very engaged and appreciative audience. Congratulations William and Aaron, you make us proud at Trinity!
Getting to know our ensembles with our music leaders – Vivaldi Strings
Vivaldi Strings is the promotion String ensemble in the Junior School. The more advanced string players of the Junior School get to play in this orchestra. The members have been selected by Ms Morgan for displaying proficiency in sight reading and performing a variety of string techniques.
At Vivaldi we play with the cello, violas, violins, and double basses. We also aim to learn how to play more advanced techniques, how to sight-read music with complex rhythms. We also learn how to understand the conductor’s gestures, so we know exactly where we are. Most importantly, we have fun and enjoy playing music together.
At Vivaldi, we’re not only just there to learn new techniques and how to play more complex music, but to build up our confidence and to practice the pieces for assembly performances once a term, at the Primary Arts’ Festival, and the Evening of Music.
