Co-curricular Music

We welcomed all members back to their ensembles this Week 2. Membership of all enrolments for Music Co-curriculars are by invitation. If you were a member of a Music Co-curricular Ensemble in 2020, your enrolment automatically rolls over into 2021. All rehearsals are socially distanced to be COVID safe.

Choir, String Ensembles and the Concert Band are available for students to gain an invaluable ensemble experience. If your son wishes to be involved, please ask your private teacher at school or please inform us of the instrument your son plays. For the String Ensembles, new invitations are sent by the Head of Strings, Ms Kate Morgan. For the Concert Bands, invitations are sent by Mr Gergely Mályusz.

Voice trials will continue for all new boys and any other student interested in joining the choir over the next week. The Junior School Choir is for boys in year 3 – 6 and invitations to join are sent home individually beginning from Week 4.

Music Instrumental – Private Lessons

Students are strongly encouraged to enrol in individual instrumental lessons to enjoy the many benefits of our Music Co-curricular Programme.

Enrolment forms are available at http://community.trinity.nsw.edu.au/1_senior/docs/spirit_musicTuition.pdf or from the Junior School front office for students who would like to be involved in the Instrumental Music Program. Lessons times are negotiated between the Instrument Music and Classroom teachers. Parents are billed at the end of each term.

RECENT PERFORMANCES

At the recent Junior School assembly, we were entertained by Benjamin Loughnan (5Yo), who played Concertino by Yanshinov on the violin with Mr Kinda accompanying. He has been learning violin with Mrs Korjenevski for 4 years. Benjamin sings in the Junior School Choir and plays in Vivaldi Strings. He has also been learning the piano for seven years. Benjamin’s sport of choice is tennis, but he loves to ride his bike and draw things. In his learning he is especially interested in space, science, and music. Benjamin says, “I LOVE playing the violin a lot because it’s very easy for me to play, it makes me happy whenever I hear it and I love classical music. I also love to pray to GOD especially whenever I need help or have any questions for him. Instead of asking a person, I pray to GOD and ask him.”

Students enjoyed the return of ensemble rehearsals and the Wednesday Instrumental Classes. Years 1 and 2 participated in a Q&A and moving activities with string tutors during their lesson and heard performances from Ms Morgan, Mrs Korjenevski, Ms Ash and Ms Kim. Year 3 students enjoyed the same with performances and music games from Mr Zengoski on bassoon,  Mr Henry on clarinet, saxophone and flute, Mr Mályusz on French Horn, Mr Aschman on Euphonium and bass trombone, Mrs Mályusz on Trumpet, and Ms Ash on violin. We are looking forward to allocating instruments next week.
