Celebrating Harmony Week in the Library with Year 5
What better way to see the richness in our diversity than by researching foods from other cultures. Boys were asked to choose a culture that was not their own and create a menu with at least three dishes from that country. The students used their Chromebooks, in their Library folder to find an appropriate book for their menu. Boys had to remember the call number to find the book on the shelf. When a book was not available, they researched their information online. Students were given the choice of using a google doc or paper and coloured pencils/textas to create their menu. These were colourful and imaginative. It was great to hear the boys discussing their different countries and food choices, appreciating all the wonderful food that different cultures have. It made us all feel a little hungry.
