We have begun to promote great books read by the boys during Monday’s Years 3-6 assembly. This week we had Peter and David from 6J share with us about two books they read over the holidays. These books came from the 2021 ‘Notables’ selection from the Children’s Book Council of Australia 2021. These books of fiction are appropriate in style and content for readers from the middle to upper primary years.

Peter: “The Republic Of Birds is full of adventures. The book gets straight to the action and you don’t have to read a lot to get to the good part. If you want to read books that get straight to action, the Republic Of Birds is a book I would recommend. This book is like Harry Potter, there is magic and there is action. Overall, I give this book 4 stars out of 5.”

David: “When This Bell Rings is an adventure novel. It follows the adventure of 10 year old Tamsin when she finds out her favourite author lives over the road. The author shares a magical and amazing secret and then disappears. Will Tamsin be the only one who can find her? I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars because I enjoyed the awesome and unexpected twists.”

We look forward to hearing from more boys at Monday assemblies who are reading great books and recommending them to their fellow students.
