During recent Year 11 Housemaster interviews, parents have asked about the way post-school pathway options are discussed with their sons. Each year, as part of the Careers Programme at Trinity, along with individual careers conversations, a number of activities are scheduled throughout the year. The following provides an overview of the Programme for next year:

Term 1 – Year 10 – Sessions during House Period and Morrisby Profile Activity

Focus: Introduction to the programme (place, people and purpose) and the opportunity to start reflection process to identify motivators and the need for a ‘Mood Board’ approach to planning for post school study and work.

Term 2 – Futures Fair 2022

Mini exhibitions, presentations for students in Years 10 – 12 and Year 12 parent and student UAC information session.

Terms 2 and 3 – Year 12 – Sessions during House Period and focussed support

Term 3 – School Based Traineeship Programme

Information session for Year 10 students who have selected a VET course for their HSC programme.

Term 4 – Year 11 – Sessions during House Period and careers conversations

Consideration of what the world of work might look like in the future and looking at what students need to know, and work on at this time. Focus on ‘personal statement’ development and how to include context and connection to courses and career goals.

Term 4 – OTU and Year 12 Mentoring Event

Connection with recently graduated Old Boys for students commencing Year 12, to share experiences of making post-school study and work decisions.

Supporting these activities is the invitation for boys to make some time to speak with me about their individual needs.
